I am using the experimental character physics to drive my new game project. The problem is that once the character lands on the ground (which is right now just a big box) he can't move. I can hack around it by skipping the AddGravityToExternalForce() call if he's not "running". This is of course the wrong solution because it does not fix the actual underlying problem. The hack fails (the player gets stuck) when moving from one adjacent surface to another even though both surfaces are on the same plane.
I believe the problem is that the character cannot "slide" across any immobile object even when he is heading only in the slightest angle into it. Is there a way to address this?
Thank you kindly!
